Tyre problem changing inner tube

Just had first puncture on the new(ish) road bike during daily commute. Looked like smashed breezeblock all over the road.

Anyhoo, changed the inner tube, checked for shards etc then inflated as much as possible with a wee hand pump and a bruised arm. After cycling a couple of hundred yards I noticed a bumping sensation. The tyre at the valve had popped over the rim, so I deflated and pushed it back in. However when I re-inflated I noticed that the tyre at the valve wasn't settling down and is still slightly raised against the edge of the rim.

I've got Schwalbe Stelvio's on Mavik Askiums. Anything obvious that I'm doing wrong?

All comments welcome.

Jut a thought, but after you refit the tyre, did you push the value into the tyre to allow the bead in the tyre to sit in the rim properly. If you don't do that, there is a chance that the base of the valve is obstructing the sitting of the bead.

Ah. No, I pulled the valve through as much as possible. That's prolly it. I'll give it a try and see, thanks.
