Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and when I get back to the UK, I'm off to Epic's to buy one.
But, for a TdF team etc, there sre surprisingly few photos on the 'net.
I was looking to see how the pro's bikes differ from the bikes the we (Joe Public) can buy.
I reckon if it wasn't for Samuel Sanchez wiining an Olympic Gold, there'd be no pics of the Orca, anywhere.
Shame, 'cos it is the b*ll*x!!

I dont think the pro team bikes are that different from the ones we can buy really ?
The frame should be the same - and we can buy all the bits that they can - unless they are riding prptotyopes ?
  • looks mint!!!!

Sex on wheels, fella. I was going to get a Prince but it's the Pyranian for me instead. I've got an Orbea dealer a stones throw from me

Different colours and often different carbon layups. A lot also ride the next generation gear as well.

The Spanish team was here prior to the Olympics warming up- and Sanchez told the guy who owns the bike shop here (Angel Gomilla, for those who ride here a lot) its a bog standard bike, but the colour scheme was his own

I have an Orbea dealer 20 miles from me, but they don't have anything in my size, or offer demo rides. :?
I spoke with Chris at Epic Cycles, they have all sizes across the range. It's a 200 mile-ish drive, but I don't mind that, if I'm going to get the service I expect when parting with +/- £3000!!
Are there any significant differences between the top marques ( Bianchi, Cervelo, Pinarello, Ridley, Colnago, etc....) at this price?

  • Shhhhhhh!
Keep it quiet or they will end up like a spesh/Trek/Giant Ford Mondeo.

Got an Onix and love it, but if I get the chance its an Orca for me. I always thought Pinarello bikes were the dogs but the lack of Orbeas on the road gives them an even greater air of exclusivity. At that sort of price bracket there isn't a 'bad' bike out there so you can feel justified in buying on looks alone.

Hopper , I made a 400 mile round trip to visit Epic and don't regret it. Chris is a top bloke, he spent almost 3 hours with me going over every possible aspect of the bike and helping me choose components. Epic also had the bike built and delivered to me after 2 working days.

Thanks, your Wilier is mighty pretty to! Wish I had gone for the DT Swiss wheels you have on it. Did you get it from Epic?

No. I did contact Epic (Chris Lines) when initially interested in a Mortirolo/Izoard and they were really helpful. I managed to find a local Wilier dealer though.

I did fancy an Orca though. My final choice came down to a locally bought Izoard or a mail order Orca from Epic and the fitting and convenience of a dealer won through.

If I'd opted for the Orbea I'd of got it in your colourways (already owned the DT's). The Evolution wasn't available at the time.

  • I was out racing this morning (only a CAT 3) and I did not see another Orbea in a pack of 80 strong ,Tarmacs were by far and away the 'common' bike out there, don't get me worong pinarellos and specialized are lovely (my other bike is a specilaized) but i like to deviate every now and then.

how does it go? - very nice indeed - was surprised at the power transfer and the lack of rolling resistance - i know this has alot to do with tyres / wheels but it just felt SOooo smooth

    highly recommened

I haven't even got a licence, yet!
I plan on getting one soon, for racing next year. Also planning on a few sportives and TT's.
I need a light bike though, to give me half a chance.
