New Bike - strange noise!

Hi

I have just bought a new bike and it is making a lot of noise,which seems to be coming from the rear and is worse in higher gears. Whenever I change gear there is a lot of clunking also. I am new to bikes and wondered if anyone could help me work out what the problem is and how I fix it? I have read the manual and tried their suggestions but there is no improvement. Thanks!

    sounds like it needs to go back to the supplying shop as they have not set it up correctly.

    If you bought in on the internet have a read of the info on Parktools and if that does not help you will need to pay a shop to sort it.

    Tis true could be anything, if everthing appears straight though my first guess would be the indexing, fiddle with the cable tension and see if that helps. Sometimes only needs a 1/4-1/2 turn.

    Parktools is the place to go.
