Child seat fitting

I am considering getting a child seat for my hardtail and am concerned about the fitting.
They all seem to attach to the bike on the seat tube, which on my bike (and most other MTBs) has the front shifter cable running along.
Will these seats not be compatible with my bike or am I worrying unnecessarily?
Thanks for your thoughts.

We've just ordered the ibert safe-t-seat, which attaches to the handlebar stem, so should remove the brake / gear cabling issue (if it is an issue?)0 -

If the seat tube style won't fit on your bike then you'll have to go for one that mounts on a rear panier-style rack. There is also the option of a top tube or headset mounted seat as well of course.
Be wary of the seats mounted on the top tube as they can result in you having to ride bow legged, depending on frame size and length of leg.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
if your bike has braze ons to fit a rack then you can get a rack mounted one.0
