Not quite west Kent but there's us in the Medway towns http://www.mccoffroad.co.uk we ride in different places all over Kent and beyond.

You don't want to get Russ started on Bedgbury, especially if he's still working nights Just have a look at the Trail Master artical in this month's MBUK!
Basically they have always had a majour drainage problem, and some twat said, i know, lets just cover the whole place with really big chunks of gravel instead of actually bothering to put decent drainage in. The result is a trail with no f***ing grip whatsoever, you literally have to slow to walking pace just to make it round the corners, and to make it worse there are loads of 90 degree corners too. Not to mention the £7.50 charge for parking and the fact they no longer allow bikes anywhere neer the cafe, instead providing a bike rack 100's of meters away which most mountain bike tyres will not fit into! And this is a trail centre :shock:

Again not exactly on your doorstep, but i can highly reccomend www.kent-trails.co.uk They do rides all over from Deal to Surry. Thursday and Saturday rides start from Rough Common, just outside Canterbury, and one of the guy's often rides from Ashford, so not far for you at all.
