bought a set of clark's premium gear cables, cut all the outers to size then went to fit the swanky alloy ferrules but they don't fit?
what i mean is the cable has at least a mill of outside/inside? play inside the ferrule so they don't fit snugly at all and just kind of waggle about. as this would be no good at keeping water and crap out i ended up fitting my old plastic ones.
cables didn't come with any kind of instructions, none on the site either.
even tried crimping one onto the cable outer in desperation but that really didn't work either.
are thses just more useless bits of crap for my bits box or am i failing to see summit obvious :?:

sounds like wrong ferrules. there are 2 gear outer diameters and then there is the brake sized."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ah that seems like the prob, pack says 12ferrules included but it didn't come with that many. prob no chance of the shop sorting it now all cables been cut and fitted, arse0

Prefer plastic ones. The metal ones have a habit of scraping your paint off, then bonding themselves to the frame.0

Take the Clarks back... they're rubbish anyway! Clarks always frays out at the end or snaps in half if you it under too much tension/use it for very long.
If you're using a bike with conventional stops (that is the cable doesnt' run the full length of the bike) then get yourself the XTR cable set.
Teflon lined SP41 outer, sealed end caps and a die-extruded inner cable. You won't get any better quality and your shifting will love you for it! £20 a set but well worth it.
If you can't afford the £20 set then the Deore version basically does without the sealed ends and die-extruded inners (that is, it has standard ferrules and inners) for £15.Rule 64:
Cornering confidence generally increases with time and experience. This pattern continues until it falls sharply and suddenly.

cheers for the replies, not used clark's in years but as they can't put the correct ferrules in the pack and the black teflon cable coating is coming off after only a couple of rides i don't think i'll be buying again.
boo to clark's!0
