I’ve just found a crack in my threaded forks and I need to replace them, but do I need to use a threaded fork is there any way I can use another type of fork without too much hassle :?

You will need to change your headset to a threadless (A-head) type to fit a threadless fork, and you will need a new stem. This could add maybe £35 upwards to the cost but it will give you plenty more choice of fork so you may consider it to be worthwhile..

If you have a 1 inch fork (older type) you are probably restricted to that by the size of the head tube, in which case it is probably not worth updating to threadless. If you have the newer 1 1/8 standard then it may be worth doing.
