Specialized FastTrak Control LK Tyres

I have the standard tyres fitted to my stumpy HT, they seem good for general riding, but come to a steepish wet and muddy incline, and I just get wheel spinning.
I have tried altering my weight over the back of the bike, but then the front comes up in the air!
Is this my shitty technique, or are these tyres more designed for fast rolling than muddy inclines?

I had them on my Stumpy too (2007 HT) - they do roll well and are okay in the dry but HOPELESS in the wet!
LK stands for "Low Knob (!!!)" - so the knobs are even flatter than standard.
I now have 2.2" Conti Mountain King Protections which are a million times better and roll pretty much as well if inflated above 50PSi (I let them down to about 40PSi when mostly off roading).0 -
Cheers for the info - you confirmed my suspicion of the LK thing - maybe some viagra might help them!
So the contis are a good all round tyre? I do some road miles too which is where the spec ones seemed really good.0 -
GC - so do I (do a fair few road miles) - they are fine IMO. The Speed Kings might roll a bit faster but have a squarer "shoulder" so wet tarmac cornering is more sketchy - plus they only come in Black Chili rubber (a must have!) in Supersonic (super lightweight race) spec - which will puncture a lot.
The 2.2" MK Protections have Black Chili rubber, are pretty skinny for their supposed size (about the same as the Fast Traks), have rounded(ish) shoulders for road cornering, last well and grip well - I really rate them.0 -
How would the 2.2 MK Supersonics work in tubeless form?
Would that help the puncture issues?
If so they sound like a nice light tyre for a good price
If they work well as tubeless, which tubeless UST gunk would you recommend?0 -
scrap that, just saw that the UST are a different tyre to the Supersonics.... my bad! :roll:0
