Surely you're forgetting that John Towers and his motley crew ripped the heart out of the company while PR-ing practically the entire workforce (and evidently many other people)into the belief that they were a quartet of Messiahs with unparalleled insight into the workings of UK industry. Rover V8? Buick made, discovered by some Rover Muppets lying abandoned in a Boat Yard. Good in a Triumph Stag? Not unless you changed the front suspension and front brakes which most "conversions" never had done. Much lighter than the Triumph lump which caused the front of the car to sit much higher, ruining the looks of a good looking car and making them dangerous to drive as the front brakes locked up very easily in the wet.
I worked for a Stag Specialist in the late 80's, I can still remember part numbers :oops:0
