campag record chainset question?
Any help on this gratefully received.....
I have just bought a campag record triple chainset, but now realise I need to change my bottom bracket (I have one for a double chainset fitted at present).
My question is do I have to buy a 'record' bottom bracket (quite expensive) or are the 'chorus' or 'centaur' bottom brackets possible to use? They all seem to have the same looking tapered ends for the cranks to go on, but I am still uncertain...
Any ideas.....?

i'm pretty sure you don't need record. if its square taper, just make sure you get centaur, chorsu, or veloce for a triple and you'll be fine. Why no compact? are you loaded touring?0

Have you bought one of the old stock alu ones? If so I have one running fine on a Veloce BB. Bike plus are selling these together, though I notice the Ebay seller is saying use Record BB only, don't know why.
Details from Bike Plus0 -
The Record and Chorus triples use a slightly different BB to the other cranks. The axle length is 111mm, but it is asymmetrical, and 2mm longer on the RHS. The other Campag cranks use a symmetrical BB, although the length may be the same - other campag triples are either 111 or 115mm, depending on seat tube diameter.
If you use a Campag 111mm BB other than a Record or Chorus triple BB, the chainline will move in slightly, however, it will only move 1mm so is unlikely to cause a problem unless something else is right at the limit. I'd be more careful if your frame has an oversize, non-round seat tube with a braze-on mount, or is 34.9mm. Smaller than that should be fine, but YMMV!0
