  • I've had no complaints with their kit, just watch the sizing.

I plan to get some stuff, as I'm just starting out :)
  • Won't be the best quality kit in the world, but i'm still going to get some booties and gloves as i have been spending a fortune recently on the more upmarket stuff.

The stuff I have bought from Aldi has been equal to a lot more expensive stuff.
I think we have done the quality argument too many times though.

Is the actual sizing in inches mentioned on the garments? S/M/L etc can mean anything from one manufacturer to another!

Also do Aldi tend to put this stuff out the evening before its advertised for sale? Its just that i wont be able to get to Aldi in the morning and ikt might be all gone, well the common sizes! :?

I've said it before and will probs say it again, Aldi are very good about accepting returns just hang onto your receipt. If it breaks, falls apart or is the wrong size they will refund or exchange. Personally have had no problems with longevity but have returned some clothes due to fit. In fact recently bought the same things in two sizes and just kept the best fitting one.

See, they return, and bring us with them.
  • jerseys, gilets good.
    shorts abysmal.

Dear me, so theres me standing outside Aldi at 9am this morning, with 15 or so cyclists who had the same idea. Anyway, doors open, and.......stampede!

Anyway, managed to get some waterproof stuff and pants. Just a bit taken aback by the popularity and general chaos around the cycling stuff. Mind you its not the best quality, but it'll do. And it beats getting fleeced for proper stuff in the bike shop.

  • got mine.
About 8-10 cyclists there at 9am this morning. Plenty of stock though. I'm proper pleased with the thermals and long sleave tops. Jacket doesn't fit me as well, but seems good quality. Gloves a bargin.

I've yet to check out my overshoes/skullcap/bikelock/trousers.....

The Mrs went for me and got all the stuff i'd asked for (1 item of everyhting they are selling expect the shoes) so hopefully it'll fit...said it wasnt to busy and the ALDI worker said they had loads more clothing in than they usually get, this is Bamber Bridge near Preston.
    Cheers, Stu
  • A couple of friends and I went in at lunchtime to Southampton and they seemed to have most of the stuff we wanted. Missing large and bigger yellow jackets (the shoulders were tight) for a friend. No shoes smaller than an 8, and they seemed to be on the large size for the number anyway, so I couldn't find those. Otherwise, seems nice stuff.

Well a brief lunchtime meander to Aldi in New Cross (14 mile round trip) and I got me a winter jacket, shirt, trous, x6 socks gloves and thermals all for £69, about the same as a pair of Assos shorts!

Hey you guys, if any of you are close to (but not exactly) 6 foot tall with a 38 inch chest, and your warm winter Aldi jacket/top is brilliant but doesn't quite fit you (but would fit me), PM me and I'll make you a good offer!

Unfortutanly I will miss the Aldi sale this time round as I don't get paid until next week (nuts!) and I doubt there will be anything left by then.

But I did get a pair of cycle trousers in the Lidl sale back along and I am most impressed. the padding isn't fantastic (when compared with the cycle shorts I paid out for) but early this morning while riding to work they kept me nice and toasty without making me sweat like a hog :D
Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men
  • I just picked up a jacket and gloves this afternoon. I'm exceedingly happy with the fit of the medium rain jackets: normally if something is long enough for my arms then it's like a tent around my middle, but not this one. Surely cyclists aren't actually lanky like me?! ;) Gloves are a little loose on the wrists, but they only had two pairs of XL left. I'll see if the Llandudno branch has anything smaller tomorrow.

For reference (in case anyone happens to be near me) the Aldi at Bangor had loads of the trousers, and a fair supply of socks and winter jackets this afternoon. Only five or so of the neon rain jackets. Oh, and a mountain of bike locks!

Glad I didnt bother by the sounds of it then. I'm over 6 foot with very wide shoulders. Its also rare for me to find trousers that fit properly. For some reason thesedays clothes are made for fatties

I agree, my shoulder size often hinders the options available when it comes to buying trousers :!:

    stuff seems really good

got two pairs of gloves as spares for my altura, cycling winter top (fits fine) waterproof trousers, great value going back for more, and scull cap and feet protecters all for under £30 not bad at all
  • Managed to find a jacket that fits (most seemed to be cut with Andrew Marr as the model, five foot long arms and the torso of a wasp) and some gloves. Barring naff branding on the gloves ('biking' indeed - like I'm 6?) they're really quite nice and very cheap.

Yes, I fit that description :)
Don't fret: trousers in my size aren't scheduled to be sold in this country until the Tuesday after Armageddon...
  • Any places in Staffs area with size 11 shoes? Local place had size 10's but too tight.
    Say... That's a nice bike..

I think they only offered up to size 10 (I'm an 11, so looked). Perhaps someone else will confirm (or contradict)?

  • ah you're right just checked aldi site. My feet aren't that big either. I was wearing thick socks but even so felt tighter than my shimano toruing shoes which I was wearing at the time.
