Morning folks,

Just a quick question if anyone can help: what on earth is that big dial on the handlebars of Rachel Atherton's downhill bike?

Re: the piccies of the recent stunning win on this here website.

Thanks!

Kev

    Hello Nick,

Yep, that was one, and on this piccy it is on the other side. The cable just seems to hang off. I do not think I have seen anything like that, and my mind is making up all sorts of possiblities. Big easy reach dial, makes sense if you;re crashing down a course at warp 9, maybe for remote suspension tweaks? saddle dropper? Anchor release for really tight corners (a-la batman doing 90degree turns by using lamp posts as the pivot)?

It is probably something banal but I am interested.

  • :D thanks chaps, what an exciting piece of kit.

    ahem...

At least I know what it is now, even if there is an overwhelming sense of anit-climax

I do apologise to anyone who has spent time looking at this thread which could have been spent acutally doing some work.

    like I should have.

    Cheers folks!

  • :D I'm not the only one with that cheap casio watch attached to my bike for checking my times down runs! ha ha ha awesome. almost made my day. although mine is at 90° and strapped round my stem.
  • She's obviously bowing her head in shame at the low-tech-ness of it.

It looks like a fishing reel.

Could it be? Shimano make them too.
