Thinking about buying one.
Trying to find some info about beam patterns etc.
Anyone give me their own review on the lights and pics of beam patterns?

They have one at clive mitchells you can play with along with the 4 led vision.
I didn't go mad on it, seemed very much a spot beam however it looked solid and well made, i went the touch route as it works out far cheaper. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Got the chance of buying one for £64.
It is a bit smaller than the Fenix.
Thinking of using it on the helmet with my L&M on the bars on MTB, then bar mounted on road bike.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

It's a bit chunky for a helmet, i can see you getting quickly fedup with it, a joystick maxx would be a better choice, the hope may be smaller in length but in width is bigger than pictures suggest.
There are other choices besides the fenix you know.
How about this for instance, it can take aa batteries and has a nice spot, and because it can take up to 4.5v you can hunt for a li-ion charger and aa battery[protected] which run at 3.7v for even more brigtness and the thing is meant to be very small, don't let the pictures fool you my mte p7 is quite small in itself.
Oh and you can extend the thing for longer runtimes, though you won't be able to use two li-ions as that'll top the voltage limit.

Either way there's plenty of options out there, just go by the reviews and you won't go far wrong.

Got a 1 led and think its fantastic. ideal spot for on the road and fireroad style off-road but dunno how it performs on singletrack.
it does have quite a spot but as you go quickish on smooth terrain you can point it further up the trail so it creates a 5m spot or something. if its closer then dunno how well it'd work.
i could try and take some photos but don't count on it.0 -
Hi,
I would recommend the Cateye triple shot for a bike mounted light as it's got a 3 hour battery and costs only £99. If you are feeling flush then there’s the newer double shot for helmet mounted lights but at a small fortune of £260 (weighs nothing though)
For the back light always go for the SMART Super flash as it can be seen for miles by cars and lasts far longer than the advertised 14 hours on two AAA batteries.0 -
used the hope 1 light on transwales night time trial .i had one on the bar and one on the helmet, brilliant with two of them ,would not advise just one on singletrack though0

Singletrack Mag has a review of LED trail lights this month. Features the Hope 1 (and 4) and also the Exposure Joystick mentioned. IIRC,they recon the Hope 1 is too heavy for helmet use but the Joystick was highly rated.Stuff I have designed

I've just posted something about this light on another thread.
Got one a few weeks back.
pros:
bright, simple, nice spread of light, great to be able to use AAs
cons:
heavy
no good IMO as a stand-alone unit but as a backup, or a bar light with a better helmet light, it's a good bit of kit.Thinking of using it on the helmet with my L&M on the bars on MTB
other way round, surely, weight of Hope notwithstanding..0
