Fitting new tyres

I got a real basic question here. I brought I set of Bontragers Mud X 26 2.0. They came rolled up in package via mail order.
I've unravelled them, but unlike my exsisting tyres on there the Bontragers side walls seem rather wider due to the way they were packaged. Is there a knack of fitting them as tonight I'm having problems in trying to get the tyre on.

I've never really found width to be a problem before. What are the dimensions written on the tyre wall, and the ones on the wheels?Welcome, to my bonesaw!0
