the key thing is to save something for the last 10 miles and 3 surprise hills

Glad you said that - the road up to the cat and fiddle was nothing compared to some of those hills in the later stages and i managed them all :D and even overtook people on them  Not bad for a 52 year old who is still 2 stone+ overweight. Anyone know the %ages for those hills?

Was there signs as you got back into stoke i just followed a couple of riders but didn't see any signs - maybe they took an alternative route for the last mile and a half :?

Rain was horrible at the start, eased up later though and was positvely sunny after most people had finished.Minor grumble about all the mini chain gangs riding people into the gutter, but I guess you get that everywhere. Signage was there once you got into Stoke am pretty sure, was tempted to carry on straight through Endon myself and avoid the last hills, though I'd of felt a bit of a cheat if I'd of gone through with that idea.

I may be being a bit thick but cat see a link for the photos once you click through, just takes you to your index page, where the cat and fiddle isnt listed?

Or am I actually really stupid?!
  • no sorry my boo, the pictures are just uploading now so should take about another hour. as soon as they are all on i will put another post on. sorry for the confusion.
  • It was chilly up at the Cat.
Everyone seemed to be passing me on the climb so you must have be one of them.
Pity about the heavy rain early on though.
P.S did you see Sean Kelly at all? I had a chat with Brian Rourke out on the course but didn't see anyone else.
Here's a box,a musical box. Wound up and ready to play.

Yes it was Freezing, with a capital F, up the cat, but great fun none the less. First time I had done it but really enjoyed it, despite being completely unprepared for the last three climbs!

I know it is not supposed to be a timed event but what is a reasonable time? Is there a record? I heard somebody say its been done in around 2hrs? That cant be true can it?
  • It was a great ride despite the swimming pool like conditions this morn.. Must be the best buffet ever seen at the end of a ride. Quality.
  • High point (!) for me was being joined by two horses running free on the road going down Golden Hill

I cant even imagine the headline for the Sentinal if they hadnt got bored and stopped
  • I wasn't carrying enough cash to buy one of the Cat and Fiddle race jerseys. Does anyone know if I can get them online somewhere? Cheers! :D
