Which Child Trailer? An AT3

I am about to get a new bike through the cyclescheme and have an opportunity to get a trailer also with 40% discount.
I am looking at http://www.ultimatepursuits.co.uk/produ ... tical=1&v=
Has anyone got one of these?
We have alot of farm tracks around us and I would like something that could go mildly off-road.
I would get the AT3 reduced via cyclescheme from £160 to about £95.
Thus our budget needs to be under £200.
I have one 6 month old. Another planned in a few yrs.
Your help would really be appreciated.
Ed

We have one of these:

Its probably well out of your budget (although Chariot do some cheaper options), and may well not be available through cycle-to-work, but its been fantastic for us ... its light, has suspension and our daughter loves it. You can get a sling for it, suitable for a baby from 3 months. If a trailer doesn't have some kind of sling, then usually you can't use them until 9-12 months when your baby can sit up and hold neck up unsupported. We also got the jogger conversion kit, so have been able to do some (not too gnarly) off-road running with it. Might be worth seeing if there are any second-hand on ebay, although they apparently hold their value well.0 -
Although expensive we can vouch for the Chariot 's. We have a Chariot Corsaire XL and it's absolutely fantastic - well worth the money. We bought the baby seat for it and both youngest boys have been in it since 3 months from birth, sharing with one other. It's even been for a short tour of Holland with a four month old and a 2 year old in it. Buy the buggy wheels that go in the front and it turns into a double buggy enabling wandering when reaching your destination. Use it regularly and you justify the expense. We use it to go into town, to ride out into the country and to tour.

One alternative ... although probably not for the next 4-6 months (as your child will be too young) ... is to get a child seat. My recommendation (based upon gut instinct, the discussion on another forum thread here http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopi ... 2#14966982, and the fact that we bought one yesterday (but haven't received it and have no direct experience of using it!) would be the handlebar-stem mounted ibert safe-t-seat)
I imagine we will continue to use both - the safe-t-seat for shorter rides or rides when we want to go on tracks too narrow for the trailer; the trailer for longer rides, wet-weather rides and as our daughter grows up and wants to take toys / books etc with her!0 -
We have got the AT3 & it has been a hit - sturdy enough, the kids love it in there & folds "ok", ie, we went to the freewheel in london & took the AT3, 2 bikes & all our other stuff for a weekend in the boot of a saab 95 estate0
