I'm getting into road cycling and would like to join a club. Can anyone recommend any nice/friendly clubs which have a decent % of women? I average only 15mph or so at the moment but getting faster.

Hi - I suggest Kingston Wheelers (http://www.kingstonwheelers.co.uk/index.shtml) . I too was looking for a female friendly club, this time last year to help me with my training. From day one everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. On the club runs (Sundays 0900 at the junction of Portsmouth Rd and Brighton Rd, Surbiton) they very much look after newbies - you can choose which group to go out with (fast, long & steady, short & "sociable") but regardless they always wait for people and no-one gets left behind. Also I ventured into the world of time trials via the club 10 series and I highly recommend these as well.

Twickenham cc has a good % of women- racers, TT riders and cyclosportive riders as well as " just" club riders. Very friendly club and the post-ride flapjacks on a Tuesday evening is beyond compare!
Good luck in your quest!

If in or near SE London then check out Dulwich Paragon -- http://www.dulwichparagon.com -- they are quite a large road riding club with a some female members, a few of whom race, others don't.
DP have a slower paced Saturday morning ride that shepherds people round a fixed length route each week, out into the North Downs and back:

Come and try us out on saturdays - leaving from Coulson South Station at 9.10am. Click on the link below 'my winter training days' to see video of us in action. See ya soon0 -
I second the kingston wheeler suggestion - went out for first ride on Sunday. Only two other girls out that day, but everyone was very friendly and encouraging and wait when someone slows down. No macho stuff at all!
