Not quite the question you think, before you go and throw use the search at me. ;)

Ive just bought some schwalbe black shark mud tyres, impressive, very spiky and light but one thing im unsure of, now ive bought me the 1.5 rear 2.1 front but somethings eating away that i should have bought 2.1 rear 2.25 front.

What combo would you suggest folks?

On the upside they look dayum gorgeous. 8)

erm the one you have. Purley beacause it will actually cut through the mud and the other would mean you would pick up alot of mud on the tred. whats the weight of them anyway?

They are meant to be quite light around 500g iirc not sure what size they based it on though.

Ive found out the 1.50 size is 393g.

  • One reason to use a wider rear tyre would be to get a less harsh ride on a hardtail.

But like Dan said, narrower tyres are meant to be better at cutting through the mud to the harder stuff.
