So it is time to make the switch to the SPDs.

Im fine for the MTB (m540) and the shoes (MT31) I want, but I am having a tough time finding pedals for the commuter/runabout/road bike.

I intend to be able to use one shoe for both bikes.

I am after a 1 sided pedal as the i can go to the shops with the trainers and not have to worry about changing on arrival.

Any reccomendations? I like the idea of the A520 SPD pedal but is it OK to use with trainers on the non-clip side? If not what would you guys reccomend? Budget is about £25 as they will probably eat curb every once in a while passing trafic and such.

Thanks

do not bother, in a few weeks you will be cursing them.

just get normal double side SPD pedals.

  • If you have to M324 http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=756&categoryId=81I have ridden my old bike which has a well usedpair of m424s http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/product/104648.htmlwith trainers but the pop up cleat bit still digs in a bit. However you might get on better buying a pair of M520 which can be had for less than £20 and some Wellgo V8 copies, and swapping as required.

M324s are the pedal you want. Perfect for run-about/commuter/winter type bikes. I use them on my commuter/winter bike and would highly recommend them for that application.

Where I would absolutely not recommend them, is for people who think they would allow them the best of both worlds and to choose between flats and spds as they ride their mountain bike. The 324s are neither good enough flats nor SPDs (old, closed style mechanism) to be used seriously on a mountain bike.
