I was heading down towards some lights today and as I approached realised there were about 4 big vans infront. So to be safe, and knowing the lights would be green long enough I hanged back and waited in line.

A red car pulled up behind me but I was too central for him (presuming him, didnt look) to get past.. The lights go green, I'm just about to go through and all of a sudden plonker behind cuts me up really bad and actually stops for a second (despite the traffic flowing). I'd hammered on the brakes, he's now decided to take off at speed and I'm stuck at a red (I think he's gone through the red too).

Jackass. No reason i could see for it and wondered if it was some kind of stupid game he was playing

Add to that I pulled up behind a car at a set of lights yesterday on the way home and as he's pulling away on green I thought he was driving a bit funny. I bend down to peer through his rear window and the guy is texting away as if he were just on a park bench.. I didnt get the chance to say anything funny to him as he too, shot off at speed.

Now the question is... where can I get a rocket launcher for the bike?:lol:

Practise launching your d-lock at offending vehicles. Only problem may be asking for it back if you actually manage to get it through a window.

    Ahh that looks cool

I thought about mounting a cross bow on the handlebars, but i think it might interfere with the brakes

Extra weight would be a bugger on the uphill stretches....

Hmm I think I've seen that pic before... :? :D

Slightly offtopic, I was thinking the oherday about all this super light weight manufacturing bike people are getting into. Carbon fibre this and titanium that... it makes me wonder if you couldnt build a cycle powered flying machine. It must be near possible by now.

The Gossamer Albatross that flew across the channel was pedal powered.

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    It was.

The power to weight ratio of the cyclist who did it was however at the extreme end, I doubt very many would have anywhere near that kind of strength to do the same.

There is an old cyclist called Leigh (not me!)
    Who's pedalling's a blur to see
    So fast is his action
    The Lorenz Contraction
Shortens his bike to a "T"
  • I think it's been done already! I'm sure there was a world record attempt a few years back where a guy flew a pedal powered plane/microlight/glider thing!
  • Damn that was fast!! lol You guys all answered as I was typing my reply!! lol
