Hey guys.
Been riding mountain bikes with flats for a while, but after recently getting a roadie i think i'll need some clips for it.
Budget is around £50 for both, i normally take UK size 9, but i honestly don't know what i'm looking for.
Any help would be much apreciated.
Thanks

You might be better with SPD's
Check out Wiggle as they have 661 shoes for about £25, and the M520's pedals are about £20-£30 a pair. You can then put some on your MTB !!
Road pedals/shoes are usually a bit more expensive !0 -
I don't think you'll have many options with a budget of £50 for both. SPD-SL Pedals will cost around £30 with shoes at about £45 and upwards. You might be better off listening to fossyant's advice.0

Decathlon for cheap shoes is good..0

Sizes are strange sometimes. I take size 9, but my Shimano shoes are size 45, which is bigger than a size 9. If I had bought a size 43 they would have been too small. Try to get to a shop to try on a pair before you buy.Steve C0

Try the DHB shoes from wiggle. They got very good ratings (10/10), but at £35 don't leave much in your budget. MTB pedals are better for that budget.jedster wrote:Just off to contemplate my own mortality and inevitable descent into decrepedness.
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.0 -
I got Shimano clip in shoes off ebay. Apparently only wore a couple of times. Got them for £20.00. Shimano's were like new! Even the right colour. So worth a shot? I just took up cycling and wanted to keep budget low.

For that price, 105 pedals from Ribble,

and shoes from Decathlon for £30. If you can stretch another tenner from somewhere your shoe options will increase. These'd be my choice on that budget.

Hope this helps.

M520s can be bought off the bay for about 15 now. SJS Cycles also do them for under £20.0

I agree, I am normally a size 38 or 39 but my women specific shimano shoes are a size 40!0 -
They have some going for £19.00, along with a number of others bits of kit. Haven't tried theirs but the pair from Lidl earlier this year are great and were only £12

I bought the above shoes for £16.90 delivered, now it seems to be £1 more exepnsive. They are double side SPD pedals, but came with a Shimano adaptor fitted to make them pedal one side clipless the other.
I bought shoes from Lidl at £15, so £32 total to give clipless a try.0 -
Hi,
Dont know if you have plumped for anything yet, but how about this for a deal. I just flagged them up to a work colleague and he has just called me up all buzzing about how good they are and what a difference they make (only in so far as he has never tried clipping in before)
http://www.spokescycles.net/product/2572/Nike_Ventoux for a pair of bargain shoes (if they have your size!)
You can use shimano M520's with them which you should be able to get for about 15 quid... such as on http://www.woollyhatshop.com/view_product.php?id=1215
alternatively... get a combined deal like this one (sorry I know its 10 quid over budget but that price includes next day delivery... http://www.woollyhatshop.com/view_product.php?id=2354

I've got a pair of Specialized Size 44's and my Size 9 1/2 feet fit ok, although my toes start getting numb after 30 miles, probably cause the shoes aren't quite wide enough.
But, I'd say the most important thing to remember when you start using clipless pedals is to unclip before you stop! It's soo embarising toppling over at the traffic lights! (i'm one of those rare creatures - a cyclist who obeys the laws of the road (well, most most of them)
Happy cycling and to coin a phrase 'Livestrong' (ha ha)0
