So what does everybody if anybody take with you on a trail when it comes to first aid.
Ive never bothered myself. But recently having had a bad crash and cutting open my forearm, which then required 9 stitches I feel the need to be a little more prepared in the future.
So whats the best things to take. (Just in case)
Cheers Chris

I usually carry a small first aid kit that I got from Tesco for about a fiver.
It's just a small zip up bag that contains stuff like plasters, antiseptic wipes & cream, some larger wound pads & a couple of bandages.0 -
Im thinking maybe a little hip flask too ! Just for pain relief.Azonic DS20

most important thing: knowledge.
otherwise, water, zip ties, inner tubes and instant patches will get you out of most stuff not requiring a helicopter.0 -
Have a look HERE for some ideas and a discussion of the same topic...0

+1
Knowledge - if you don't know what your doing your pretty stuffed to be fair.
That sort of wound dependance on how you did it and how badly it was bleeding pressure should be applied to it to stop the risk of loosing lots of blood and also less pain.
wow i know all this and im 14 lol.
anyway, hope it helped.I have videos on youtube check them out

What's up with you man, that's just a scratch. There's no bone or anything. Honestly, youth of today.....
I am considerably more rock and roll than you.

Always have a 1st aid kit in my kit, never did before working in the outdoors, but it doesn't take up much room.
Think about what's in your kit - not all kits have everything you might want, possibly might have some stuff you don't need. I keep mine in a small dry bag so it stays ...dry, and in good condition. Also, obvious, but a lot of people don't think about it - learn how to use the stuff!
Having said all that, I've only ever used it for minor stuff & very rarely.0 -
I'd rather ride home bleeding... :twisted:I am considerably more rock and roll than you.

If it's me, same. If it's a paying customer, looks better to offer some 1st aid!
Did ride with a guide once who shall remain nameless, who was asked what 1st aid he carried. 'Don't see the point' was his reply, he reckoned minor stuff didn't matter & major stuff needed an air ambulance!
Sounds alright, but seriously, if someone's losing blood, stopping down blood loss could keep them together until help arrives.0 -
Cable ties!
You can fix anything/everything with cable-ties, and a little imagination
Seriously, though.
Most recently, I carry:-
Spray plaster (if that was you a few weeks ago at the bottom of the Pleney, that I offered it to, I *did* warn you it would sting like a mo-fo!!)
Tubi-grip - my Race-Face DH arm pads were rubbing on the inner of my wrists. The sweat didn't help. Carried some tubi-grip so that I could use it to prevent the chafing. But, didn't need it. Had already built up callouses on my wrists!
Blister plasters - take up almost no space. Can't have a ride ruined by armour, or new shoes.
Lemon/Lime Nuun tablets - for if/when you get cramps.
Buff - not a first aid item. But, if push came to shove, I'd use it as a sling/bandage/etc.
Small selection of plasters
Space blanket & whistle
Mobile phone
Feel free to mock me for carrying so much *extra* kit. But, it really doesn't add much more weight/bulk.
Asked work to train me up to be a first-aider. So, am going on a 4-day St.John's course at end of Oct.Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!0
