I recently re-greased the bearings in my Shimano RS10 front wheel for the first time! everything seemed to go really well apart from now there's a slight clicking noise when i spin the wheel, its only very faint (You have to put your ear up to the hub to hear it). it kind of sound like the bearings a knocking against each other.

Is this normal? if not what could it be?

  • Just stripped the wheel again and it looks like Seal ring is the problem. The metal strip on the bearing side that seems form part of the cone is heavily pitted.
  • You should be able to get new cones.
  • Hi, thanks for the reply. The cones themselves are fine its just the seal ring that's worn.
