hi,

am having a brain-freeze moment. on an average bike with say an ultegra or dura ace groupset, what would be the standard crank arm length?

thanks in advance.

  • I'd say 172.5mm was more standard... but maybe it depends on the size of bike. Anywhere between 170mm and 175mm is perfectly normal

170mm, because a lot of cyclists are short arses. I use both 172.5mm and 170mm and can't really tell the diference.

Unless legs have changed lately - its always been 170mm.

To be honest - i defy anyone to spot the difference just by riding the bike.

Usually 170 on road bikes, 175 on mtb's

    now there's a gauntlet

I reckon I can, at least on back-to-back bikes if they have different lengths.

To get the length on a single bike you've never ridden would be a good test though.
