valverde and gilbert watching each other thinking of uphill finish is my take... lose it on the downhill and find themselves isolated ... not paying attention
i thought i should get a bonus point for picking casar for the break even if he does sit up due to the chase"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0 -

He has losed the Vuelta, 2 min diference / 25 km to the finishIf you like Flandes, Roubaix or Eroica, you would like GP Canal de Castilla, www.gpcanaldecastilla.com0 -
Why does he always do that? Is it that he can't concentrate for long? Personally, I think it's his DS. First off if Bruyneel was his DS, he'd never be in those spots where he'd be vulnerable to gaps, or crashes. Bruyneel always has his guys in the safest spots in the peloton. But even if Valverde started to lose position, concentration or whatever on a Bruyneel team, Johan would be screaming on the radio when it hit 5 seconds to close the gap. Whereas Valverde didn't react until the gap was 42 seconds and it was already too late.
BTW, why hasn't Joaquin Rodriguez dropped back to help him?0 -
He always ALWAYS chucks it away! BUT how great was Bettini! Awesome!0

Final attack of Contador (just Bettini, Rebellin, Cunego and Ballan could follow him).......and Bettini wins, Valverde lose 3min 23 seg finally
Sastre, Antón, Mosquera... losed 3 seg against Contador (who is going to destroy La Vuelta in the Angliru for sure)If you like Flandes, Roubaix or Eroica, you would like GP Canal de Castilla, www.gpcanaldecastilla.com0 -

Actually, what should scare everyone is how easy Kloden's been taking the stages where he's not needed. He's gonna be a beast leading up that mountain I'll bet and then Contador/Levi will take it away.0 -
Levi will get smoked on Saturday. Bertie will show what he's capable of.It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0

According to cyclingnews Valverde was at the back because he had gone to get a rain-cape. Seem strange that he personally went back rather than a team-mate. Maybe they just thought it was a nice safe descent.
Van Goolen also got dropped although his main concern will probably be working for Sastre in some way0
