Zabel question...
If, during a rider's career, he could accumulate points for his peleton position when crossing the line (on the basis say of 5 points for first, 4 for 2nd etc...) then I wonder how many points Erik would have gotten by now.
The poor old boy is always there or thereabouts in the sprints but can't quite manage to get one these days.
Yet, if you gave him all those theoretical points, I bet he'd be so far ahead of other riders, past and present....

I would say shedloads.
Bless Erik - he does keep trying doesnt he ?0 -
It definitely won't be quite the same without him - when ever that will be. He should get a berth with the new Cervelo team as a technical advisor, like he used to do with Giant/Telekom.Spring!

It's not just the sprints is it? He rides ALL year - does Six day races during the winter, spring classics, Tours - he's ridden all three GTs this year. IMHO he is one of the greats because he doesn't target one type of race.'Google can bring back a hundred thousand answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.'

Thanks Dan - great link.
I suppose because many of those riders above Erik in the all-time list won big tours, it makes Erik's total, based upon his sprinting, all the more admirable.
I like the way he always did at least two tours as well as his other commitments AND always finished them.Spring!

Contador is already 6th on the list of active riders And he has around 10 years left in him.0
