After many months of searching high and low for my first bike, I finally settled on a hardtail that ticked all my boxes . Here she blows -
reflectors have been disposed of!! Havent got any major plans for changes just yet but I'm sure I'll get the bug soon enough.
Peace Out!! 8)

Nice bike, I ride with someone who has one of these. A possible change of tyre though if you intend to get stuck into the sticky stuff. Plush fork too 8)http://stcolin.pinkbike.com

Looks exactly like mine, which turned up on Wednesday
I'm also looking at getting some winter tyres for it, even though the Kenda small blocks get pretty good all round reviews - they look like they'll skid and slip in the mud. Not decided what to go for yet; will canvas opinion at my LBS tomorrow.
Also looking at putting some white pedals on it and a white front crud catcher - hopefully the latter won't compromise the cable runs on the down tube.
Only other thing on my mind is fitting a 185mm rotor on the front, but will see how I get on after the stock one has bedded in.0 -
Sounds cool, where did you buy yours from? Was considering getting a pair of white pedals but i already had these black v8's laying around. Was looking at a clear crud catcher, can't see it being too much of a problem with the cables.
Peace Out 8)0 -

I got mine from Merlin. The poor ParcelForce guy was only about 5'4" and could hardly manage the box it came in!
I got some white MG-1 pedals from eBay. Watched a load in the UK which all went over the price from Hong Kong, so ordered the HK pair. Hopefully here in a week or so. The pedals Merlin supplied aren't that great - I had no confidence in them when I was out over the weekend.
I got a white Cycraguard and a black NeoGuard from Chain Reaction Cycles, both of which got covered in mud but kept me clean. 8)

The 6700 was out of my price range so I didn't have such concerns But IMO the 6700 is a good looking bike too. I was looking at the Trek 6500, but in terms of looks it didn't compare to the Combi Deluxe (again IMO).
The fork is the Race version on the 6700 and it's kitted out with a mostly Shimano SLX drive train and brakes. Does that justify an extra 300 of your hard earned? Only you can decide that really.
Not very helpful am I? :P0 -
Thanks sam what size is your bike ? Im 5.8 so would the size m be right for me ?http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

Mine is the Large, which is about 19.5". I'm 6' with a 34" inside leg.
H3ndr1X's bike looks smaller so he may be able to help you out too.
Found these frame sizes online: XS 35cm/13.8", S 40cm/15.7", M 45cm/17.7", L 50cm/19.7", XL 53cm/20.9"
Getting on one is always the best option. Don't forget that the Combi Disc has the same frame, so if you could find one of those locally you'd be able to check the sizing.0 -
Thanks for the size chart i do think the M should be the right size.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

6700 got bad reviews in WMB due to bad handling. I like the combi disc and when i test rode it cos i was looking to buy one it handled great, although i only got a chance to test a demo one by doing some drops, stoppies and wheelies improvising with what i could in the carpark it handled great, but i love my yukon.

oh right, the handling should be sorted the good thing was that they also said that with the handling sorted, it could be a great bike but is light enough with the right investment to be a great racer

Simon, mines the M and I'm 5'10, the bike feels a little short in the cockpit, the top bar is pretty low so at 5'8 I would consider the M, but it is entirely up to you, your style will no doubt be different to mine. but i would definitely feel more comfortable with an extra half inch or so up top.
ThankYouSam - let me know as soon as you get your pedals, Ive just ordered my clear crud catcher set and I'm considering getting some white pedals too. How much were they?0 -

I'll paraphrase my private message. The pedals are a pair of Welgo MG-1s. £25 delivered from Hong Kong. Can't fault them so far - although the back of my right calf muscle would disagree0 -
Hi H3ndr1X & thankyousam
Are you still happy with your Combi Dlx? I'm considering giving Merlin a visit next weekend to try one out and then buy one and was wondering how you guys are getting on with the bikes?
Cheers, j0 -
I'd be interested to hear how you're getting on too. I love the look of this bike, one of the nicest looking HTs I've seen and a bit of a bargain too for the spec.
However I spoke to one of my LBS who used to stock Commencal, they weren't impressed with the build quality so they chose not to carry them anymore.
H3ndr1X - you mentioned you had the Medium, don't suppose you'd be able to measure the height of the top tube at the stand over point? I have long arms and short legs so always get caught between small and medium sizes!Less internal organs, same supertwisted great taste.0
