Electron 5+10w front light bulb upgrading?

Purely out of curiosity, I'm interested to read about anyone's tales about replacing the standard bulbs with more powerful ones...

From a lights e-tailor I have used before, I have just come across a selection of replacement bulbs that go upto 35w (both a wide and spotlight form)! :shock:

Obviously they will eat into the battery bottle's power more quickly, but can the bulb holders cope with the extra heat off a bulb much greater than 10w?

I would be careful especially if the lamps are plastic or have plastic fittings. I had a 15w in my Vistalite set and it got pretty hot. Why not cut your losses now and get a 21st century solution - Fenix L2D CE Q5 and a Twofish Lockblock (or two).

My timing in buying the Electron set was amazing last year, about two weeks before the Fenix L2D began to be raved about! If the Electron packed in, the Fenix would be a no-brainer for the time being.

I'm pretty happy with the brightness of the Electron, this was more a curiosity thing about how far other owners may have pushed the boundaries from the default 5+10w.

Replace the standard bulbs with ones from Maplins - they're much brighter for soem reason (even though supposed to be the same)
