Hi
I am doing Pedal for Scotland this w/e (last minute thing!) - is the route conducive to a road bike with cleats? Or should I dig the old MTB out?
Appreciate any advices
Thanks

Definitely OK for a road bike - as all but one section last year was on tarmac of some description - last year there was a grass path to negotiate on the Hopetoun Estate, but that apparently was a last minute detour due to another event taking place at Hopetoun House.
I will be riding using a Specialised Tricross with 700x25 tyres... sadly was hoping to ride the Specialised Allez Elite that I ordered a fortnight ago, but the bike shop I ordered it through online have a useless courier that couldn't deliver to Scotland and reportedly passed it on to Fed-Ex... which Fed-Ex are claiming never received it... Where it is god only knows. :-(Already signed up for the following 2010 rides:
Etape Caledonia (May 16th)
AMR's Trossachs Ton (June 20th)
AMR's Cross-Border Sportive (Sept 19th)

100% agree with that, I'll be on my road bike and was last year too.
Route isn't really difficult. I'd hoped to get a good time but haven't trained (on the road) in the last 4 weeks so finishing is my aim!!Current steed is a '07 Carrera Banshee X
+ cheap road/commuting bike0 -
Cheers Guys - will look out for you Sunday.0
