To upgrade or not???

I started riding earlier in the year and bought a Trek 4500 hardtail with fairly lightwieght aluminium frame which seemed a good starter bike.
I have progressed much faster than I thought I would and have already started upgrading stuff.
I have changed the v brakes for Hayes Stroker Trail discs and changed the bulky saddle for a more lightweight (and comfy) SDG bel air saddle and i-beam seatpost.
I have also added grippy and lighter Wellgo MG1 pedals (not yet confident enough for SPD's).
I have now come to a big decision which could involve money either way but I want to invest wisely. I do mainly cross-country with a bit of trail centre riding thrown in but nothing to serious (no big jumps - no downhill). Is it worth looking at new wheels/forks/bars for this frame in a quest for lightness and if so any suggestions please?? or would I be better to get a new bike? It pains me to think I'll be spending more than I paid for the original bike on the upgrades!!
I like the hardtail feel and the geometry seems great on my current frame. I have the use of a lightwieght full-susser whenever I need it but prefer the feel of my own.
No weight issues with the rider as I'm female and under 9 stone.

I would put a new fork on maybe, but no more than that. Replace the rest of the components as they die.
I'd recommend this:

Note they have the wrong weight listed, it is 4.7lbs, 0.7lbs lighter than your Dart2. Also stiffer, and smoother. You'd have essentially what would cost about 6-700 quid new after an upgrade like this. The wheels you have are decent.0 -
