I know its the same old question... Basically I have £1000 to spend (but I could push it up to £1500 if its necessary) on a MTB which can do some cross country, some trails etc.. Its going to get used all year round rain or shine so it need to be something fairly durable.

I currently own a salcano NG010 which has a Shimano Hone group set, weighs a ton and has shocking rst forks.

I'v only ever ridden hard tails (steel and aluminum) but im open to the idea of full suspension.

Im currently swaying towards the Orange P7 Pro, but iv been told its quite heavy??

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks,

Dale :D

P.S I have searched this many times but never found exactly what im looking for, sorry for asking such a common question but £1000 - £1500 is a lot of money so I want to get the right bike!! :)

£1000 will get you a great hardtail e.g. Rockhopper Pro or a Commencal Supernormal but for £1500 you could get a top-end lightweight XC rig e.g. Scott Scale.

Light weight is a bonus but I think there's a point when a bike becomes too light and DH ability suffers. I'd make a shortlist of bikes you like & can afford and then drop by a few shops, take a look at them and if poss. get a test ride. Marin & Spesh dealers will let you test ride a full-susser for a day.
