Right, confession time. Which one of you is this?

Be thankful I posted the link rather than the pic, otherwise you'd have to see it everytime you read this page.

 I can't even begin to imagine what is wrong with that photo, but then having said that I did almost choke my then girlfriend/now wife about 8 years ago giving her a full on kiss as we passed the camera point on the log flume at Chessington!

And before anyone asks, NO I haven't got the pic - we didn't even buy it in the end!

Commiserations GB. An unfortunate reminder of why I insured my own pride-and-joy.

I had a splendid time, despite my Dahon's unfortunate habit of chain-dropping coming back with a vengeance. First three or four laps were no bother, then three drops on the next, and another not long after that. Then it was OK again....fume. My favourite LBS will hopefully sort it this weekend, before I go into Basil Fawlty whacking it with a bush mode....
Anyway, got on the course about ten to ten, and then it was lovely- pretty much all the way round with hardly any stops. Not too bad even when it was more crowded- I think the longer and better arranged route helped, plus the marshalling at crossings was better. The number of times I got stopped last year.....sheesh. Big improvement on what was already a great event. Roll on next year!!

And while I'm at it, might as well add my pic to the rogues' gallery:
    http://www.smileforskysports.com/album/ ... _0516.html

BTW Snooks, that's not a folder behind you in the pic. It's a Pashley-Moulton TSR (the less hideously expensive version of the Moulton New Series). Might be a separable version, but definitely not folding (Dr Alex views that as an unwanted compromise). Didn't see that one, but there were a few of its relatives out and about.

    I stand corrected :)

To my limited knowledge, small wheels means one of three things...Kiddies bike, BMX or folder :D

But I've learn something new, thank you...It also means there are tourers out there tampering with their food chain number.....Cunning

Having trawled through a lot of the photos from each tower, it is clear that the photographers were fairly red-blooded, heterosexual males. Look at which 'views' get several repeat photos in succession (and note where the focus for the shots are) :?

You can laugh, boys, but it is a problem.

I put on a nice decorous v-neck top that just shows shadow of my cleavage, get on my bike start cycling and realise that there is spectacularly more on show than I had ever intended. But by now I'm miles from home and not about to go back and change.

Not that I can as all my tops are lowish cut.

I would have though they might have made the photos easier to find....painting the towers with the clocks on the appropriate colour might have helpped and putting the photos in cronological order....I was searching at the end of the galleries for my shot taken at 12:54...and it was right at the start of the 12-1pm batch.

All the pics would have the exif data of the time they were taken, and sorting them into 10 or 20 min batches would have taken a few minutes longer to do, but saved everyone searching so much time rather than having to flick through all the images from the hour (or hours) they went around.

  • I am in the same boat Cori....

All I can say is NEVER CYCLE IN A COWL NECK!!

They inflate from teh top, and billow away and down, away and down damn it!

    All very tiresome...

But then, on the other hand, the chance of ever seeing the people gawping again is slim to none, so whatever!

  • RE Snook's photo find, I'm sure I spotted that girl when we where waiting at the Bike Doctor's on the turn leading upto Traf Sq. I do remember being rather distracted and commenting "healthy set of lungs on her!" to DDD

As for Cori and LiT, although I fully sympathise with the issue of what top you can wear when riding it's unlikely anyone will get much chance to stare and if they do start to take to much notice chances are they'll crash and you can scalp em :-)

Oh yeah, I remember now! With a pair of lungs like that I think her body simply doesn't produce fatigue inducing toxins... *comicbookgeek moment*

I don't, if I was a women I would do nothing but wear tight lycra, skirts and damn sexy tops. I'd have men gawp at me all day. I would relish in the power of knowing that 'they all wanted me and none could have me' !

I sweetly despise this fact because whilst I'm aware of being purposely made to want yet no chance of having. I, a hetrosexual male, cannot help but be a slave to it.

I don't know what gotten into me. They must have put something in my Alpen this morning.

Oh well, going to Spain on Thursday with my girlfriend. I'm sure I'll be able to get out whatever is in my system.

  • Tsk, searched the photos and haven't been able to find myself or Mrs OSK.

Have uploaded a few of my own. Here's one to show that not all cyclists are RLJ'ers:

  • Sound like the Londoners had a nice day out! It also seems that it was very much targeted at the local population but from what I have read it sounds like it could also be targeted at tourists.

The route I read about included some famous London sites and a great opportunity to see them in a very different way to normal. It sounds perfect. Better than a day in traffic on an open top bus. I think I may bring the family down next year for a sightseeing trip. Something I have never done in London before cause it is so busy.

It was quite a good route for site seeing, especially as we took in Trafalgar Square this time! It was quite pleasant riding round with it closed to traffic and with all the other peds watching us!

Having said that if you do want to site see don't go round with anyone from the SCR thread, it's quite difficult to do when your doing 25MPH and scything through the other cyclist's

I have sent feedback suggesting that the sponsor (whoever) provides a downloadable podcast description and/or printable info sheet for each of the main sights - giving history and stories about the sights (to be listened to while stopped, of course; wouldn't want to enter the debate about using headphones while cycling in such a crowd  ). I'm sure they could weave some subtle advertising in there (Thinks: "on the left, just after the Sky Sports photo tower, ...").

What was really nice this year - but not something jointly promoted - was that it was also the Open House Weekend. So you could have got a cheap hotel room (if not local) and visited unusual buildings on the Saturday and attended FW (and possibly some other buildings) on the Sunday. The FCO on Whitehall is a particular favourite of mine. Wonder whether the coincidence will be the same next year. I don't think it happened last year as FW was comparitively a week later then.

  • Especially for the Av2Hire guys with the massive bass tube - they spent a good 5 minutes turning it around the first time. Following them through the embankment underpass before they got sound-limited was truly deafening.

Well, as the guy riding the cannon ...
I ended up turning before the hill after the first time ... the turning wasn't so bad, but the hill was a killer on a 20 foot long, articulated, 200kilo bicycle.

Shame they were limiting the sound .. I had the biggest sound bike ever, with the lowest volume!

I shoulda brought my Ipod speakers instead
