Crikey. Lots happening in the world of sport recently isn't there. What with the Olympics, Man City, Kevin Keegan, England vs SA in the cricket, Andy Murray beating Nadal, Khan getting completely poleaxed on Saturday night. Its been a dramatic few weeks.

Can you still classify F1 as a sport after this most recent debacle?

Agreed, the FIA just love Ferrari to the point they're willing to destroy the sport to prove it. I thought it was going to end with Michael 'Charisma' Schumacher's retirement.

How Ron Dennis has managed to keep his head from exploding with frustration and anger, I just don't know.

I really can't see the argument that he kept momentum on the straight, considering that he had to come off the accelerator to let Kimi go back past after cutting the corner... Especially stupid when you consider that Kimi retook the lead twice... It was a battle for most of the lap until he crashed. In fact, one of Kimi's passes was when he came very wide out of a corner, used the run off area and so kept more momentum...

Favouritism towards Ferrari? Oh yes. Can't really be denied.

Robbie McEwen winning an Australian 1-2-3 in Hamburg, and Australia beating Holland at football ((also, Austria beating France at football), and Northern Irish couple winning the first UK and Ireland Wife-Carrying Championships.

Yes, in impressive style by all accounts. Faces Federer in the final. He's beaten Federer a couple of times so could well take the title tonight. He certainly is a talent this boy.

I held the same hopes at the time. The guy is/was a driving genius but some of the unsanctioned on track antics of his were ridiculous. Hoped for a level playing field when he packed it in but clearly this was too much to ask for.
Can't help but feel Max has a hand in all this. Reckon he's convinced himself McLaren were behind the News of the World story and it is personal.

I've only missed one grand prix since 1998 (Canada 2002 - sad I know ) but I'll be doing other things next Sunday.

I was thinking this was another dig at Ron Dennis and his team - I really cant see how else you can explain it ?

And what about Ferraris incident in the pit lane in Valencia - releasing their car into the path of another one ? A slapped wrist for that.

Ron Dennis would have been shot if it was his team. Its ridiculous - and we thought the Protour stuff was silly ??

Hopefully Hamilton will win it anyway. Ferrari's reliability hasn't been there recently, Raikonnen's been useless, and Massa's never particularly reliable. Next season will be particularly interesting, with Kovalainen just starting to come good (although this weekend was pretty shocking) and it's well known that BMW stopped concentrating on this season to focus on next year months ago. If the FIA can stop favouring Ferrari so much, we could see a very close fight next year between Hamilton, Massa and Kubica.
  • Khan getting clumped inside of a minute has to be the moment of the weekend. I cant stop watching it.

I don't think Murray lost it. Federer won it - he was almost unplayable...

Okay, Murray's first serve % was poor and so gave Federer some cheap points, but Fed put on an absolute masterclass...

Yep, looks like Federer was back to close to his best. Not a bad annus horibulus, US Open plus finals of two other slams. He'll probably beat Sampras's slam record to confirm his status as best of all time.

Great performance by Murray in getting to the final, he surely must be able to break through with a slam win of his own in the future.

So home come he always sounds such a miserable b*stard when he's interviewed :?:

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!
  • Beating the world number 1 and number 2 with only 24 hours between matches was always a big ask but it sounded like he troubled Federer in the second set. I've no doubt he'll get a slam in the future if he manages to stay on top of his game. He's only 21 and has a good head on his shoulders and seems to be developing rapidly.

Because he wants to win and he didn't. Because he's not a naturally chirpy fella. Because he's still young. Because he isn't that arsed about anything other than Tennis. He's just getting on with the business of being a top tennis player so we have to get used to getting our laughs and entertainment from people who's job it is to make us laugh and entertain us. Shouldn't be too hard. Anyway, i thought his quip about his prize money was quite funny. Half a million dollars..."thats about £10 isn't it?!"

Too right. I'm sick to death with the 'Tiger' Tim attitude where the desire to be seen as a thoroughly nice bloke seemingly comes before the desire to win.

I love the fact that Murray's got some fire in his belly and the fact that he's not content just to be the British number 1.
  • You forgot the Vuelta a España too.
