trek fuel ex 8 or orange p7?

Hi im just geting back on two wheels after a long time on my behind! The two bikes im looking at are the trek fuel ex8 or the orange p7. I know they are totaly differet bikes but want a bike that will grow with me. A freand who rides and has a p7 has told me not to opt for a full sus because of the weight and unwanted bounce if i was going to ride the bike on roads. Im rather un fit at the moment so would like to ride the bike to work aswell as the trails on the weekends to bost my fitness. All opinions welcome :?
