Hello all, I am new to the forum. Decided that it would be a good idea to commute to work, this invloves a 7 mile trip each way mostly through the new forest.

I am not to serious so brought a Giant R2 bike that I am very happy with!

Made my first journay the other day and did it in 32 mins each way which I was pleased at :)

    It sounds great. What re the road surfaces like? Riding through Hertfordshire yesterday the views of the Chilterns were amazing but my 105-psid 23mm tyres were no fun at all on the nasty tarmac.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Thirded (if that's a word.....doesn't normally stop me tho!) drove through there once on way back from a holiday and it looked lovely!

    Well done. Sounds like a nice route.

    If you're timing it I suspect you could already be on that slippery slope. First it will be faster rolling tyres, then lighter wheels, bigger and closer ratios.... before you know it you'll be trying to justify a £1,500 carbon-framed racer and wondering if tri-bars would help! Most people acknowledge the money they save not using the car is spent on bike bits. It's evil, it gets you no matter how hard you try! ;)
    Aspire not to have more, but to be more.
  • Cheers for the warm welcome.

    I have to admit I am lucky with the roads and sceanery along the route.

    Biondino - The roads are 'ok' no massive pot holes but they could be smoother, bike seems to cope with them well though.

    Simion E- I know what you meen I have all ready cut 3 mins off my time and I want more! :twisted: I can see how it can become addictive.

    This is the bike;
