Specialized Comp MTB & Pedals

After all the good advice on my brake problems, I thought I would seek some more wisdom from the guys who know.
I have decided to buy a pair of Specialized Comp MTB shoes but have no idea what sort of pedals I should be looking for. I would like a set that I can either clip into with the MTB shoes on, but also be able to use them with trainers etc if just going down the road

Hi
I have the same shoes as your thinking of buying, I use them with Shimano DX pedals which i have just ridden the UK coast to coast route and had 10 hours in the saddle with no problems. I also use my bike to commute to work and the pedals are no problem because of the wide plastic support. Some of the best riders in the world use them, can't all be wrong!!
