I'm racing for a week soon somewhere which is really sandy. Bit more sand and it'd be a beach type sandy. Lots of sandy tracks, boardwalks going over sand and some woodland with firm singletrack. I've got tubeless rims and would really appreciate some helpful suggestions.

Many thanks

I can only comment that Nobby Nics are fairly average in sand. They blow up quite narrow and tend to dig in rather than roll over.
  • also, just incase you don't know

tyres aren't always the issue its the way you use them that counts for example

Don't be in a low gear such as 1 2 3 4 or 5 change into middle chain ring and try putting it as 4

or 3 possibly dependance on your leg strength this will decrease wheel spin and allow you to move more easily within the sand.

  • oh, and this also depends on the type of sand

wet sand gears dont particulary matter as much due to more grip but you may still wheel spin

really soft sand - pretty hard to pedal on and this is where tyres come into play aswell as correct gearing.

    Tyres do help.

  • go for mud tyres like those 1.5-1.95 with lots of knobs
but it really do depends on what kind of sand and what course it is
