ive had a scott aspect 25 for under a month, ive done about 60 miles on it and my rear inner pad has worn right down to the metal allready,i got in touch with shop i got it from and they said cause of the one ride i went on today which was only 16 miles, and my back pad went after 6 miles, that the ride is renowned for it,and i would have to pay for new pads, surely after just 60 miles i shouldnt need new pads.......anyone know what i can do,or if this is a problem with this bike, cheers for any help?????????

pads can go in a ride if the conditions are wet and muddy.
i would look at getting Sintered pads next as they are better for the coming conditions.
it does sound like you may have a sticking piston. whicj the shop should sort."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

any pics? and what brakes u have? its not normal, may be theres is some problem with the brakes or set up problem
for pads i suggest u to go with the Unex Thermo Dissipator pad, its Semi Metallic but have a caramic plate to disperses the heat transfer from braking to your caliper
give them a try, they will last you for a while08 Swork Stumpy FSR with 3 brains

my brakes are>Shimano M485 hydraulic disc
i aint got pics of the actual pads..............like i siad, ride was only 6 miles into it when they went, and my back wheel locked up as well,i just tought it was sh_it in my pads, got to bottom of downhill and inside pad was gone, and its scratched all of my disc as well......0 -
Does sound unusual but I'm had pads disappear in the course of a ride if it's wet and you're riding in a gritstone or sandy area.
Would be worth getting the brakes checked as well. Did both pads wear right down or just one? If one had more wear than the other it does sound like a sticky piston or poor caliper alignement. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
only the inner pad at the back has worn right down to the metal, the outside is fine,it hasnt worn away at all,i had to use just my front brake for the other 10 miles of the ride, and they havent worn down at all...............ill ask bike shop to look at the piston
thanks for all the help you guys are giving me,only found this site last night while looking for help.......0
