So, does anyone think there was a chance he was going to sign with Katusha and got pissed that they were leaking stuff about him signing there and that killed the deal? (I don't but there's a possibility that happened)
After weeks of rumours and speculation, Team CSC-Saxo Bank's Carlos Sastre has finally announced that he is leaving the Danish squad and joining new outfit Cervélo Test Team as of next season. The 2008 Tour de France winner made the news official on his personal website, www.carlossastre.com, on Thursday. He will be holding a press conference on the Vuelta a España rest day on Friday.

And from his own website, an excerpt:
http://www.carlossastre.com/Noticias_En.htmlAt this important moment in my sporting life, I want to explain to you my motivation to make this decision. It must be made clear that throughout my career, the financial aspect was always secondary. I decided for the Cervélo team because it is a new project that really fits with my way of life. It offers to cycling the opportunity to open new frontiers, and work together with our sponsors and their customers in a really effective way. At the same time, we can work at further improving the equipment technology.
It sounds like he was doing this largely for his future after his career. I'll bet he'd like to create his own line of bikes (and probably other bike-related items too) with Cervelo so that he'll have that business after he stops riding. Good idea. I'd respect (and buy) a Cervelo Sastre-Line bike.0
