Looking to replace mine.

Platform or beartrap?

Mainly XC, tramming round woods etc, occasional thrash downhill on very short descents, out in all weathers except ridiculously wet. Other than that, not much more. I'm too old to try killing myself, it hurts too much now.

All advice welcomed, sensible or otherwise, but must be reasonably priced, less than £50, preferably a lot less, and I'll still have to lie to the missus about how much they cost...
I am considerably more rock and roll than you.

Road. Mountain. Up hill and down dale...

    I've got 2 pairs of DMR V12s. Both have served me well for several years.

    DMR V12:

    One pair of these are the magnesium versions and have corroded, around the pins mostly, a lot more than the standard pair.

    You'll also see V12s everywhere. Not very individual.

    Go for Wellgo MG1s.

    Lighter than DMR V12 Mags (£60) by a decent margin. MUCH lighter than non mag V12s.
    Sealed bearing (like V12s)
    Magnesium alloy.
    Wellgo make DMR pedals.
    Paint seems much more durable.
    Slightly bigger platform size than DMRs.
    Around £35 new of the interweb :D

    Ive got a set of black spire Maggys (Magnesium Flat's) and find them excellent and very light
