new to this carbon fork malarky

how tight does the bung need to be so it doesn't move when snugging up the headset bearings and doesn't damage the carbon steerer?

do they come loose over time?

8nm ok for the stem clamp?

cheers

  • The bung is irrelevant to the day to day use of the bike.
The bung is only used when tightening the ahead set
Once done you can remove it if you want (most people leave it in)
So it only has to be tight enough for you to tighten the aheadset. Basically finger tight. If it slips tighten it a bit more.

finger tight allows it to slip - hence I was looking for a torque figure so I don't f'ck up the steerer
  • if you use your fingers then you can't stuff up the carbon
