Cyclists in France will have to wear a reflective vest at night or in poor visability. See http://www.google.com/translate?u=http% ... l=fr&tl=en
Will this spread?

  • As a matter of fact, I wore my first fluorescent-yellow reflective vest today while riding a bike to Candelaria. It was dawn, forgot my lights, the jacket was in the car, I just thought it wasn't worth the risk of having an accident, so I donned it without thinking twice about it really. I felt like a right commuter for the 1st 10 minutes. Then I forgot I was wearing it...

(here in Spain, it's compulsory for all people to wear whenever you get out of your car on an inter-urban road... you need to store >2 in the glovebox)

I want to know who it is, high up in the EU hierarchy, who has a relative with a fluorescent vest business.

Either that or they're related to the Head of Retail sales for a ferry company! I have two in my boot unused still in the packets. I also took my hi-viz running bib on hols for that reason and it seems to have gone missing :?

I decided to rely on my Altura cycling jacket (bile yellow) and to argue the toss with the gendarmes.. Needless to say, it spent the entire holiday baking next to the spare wheel and never saw the light of day, even as exhibit A.
