This is a NEW event I'm promoting next March. Intended as a warmup for the Summer.
www.madmarchharesportive.co.uk
Its flat and fast apart from the signature climb of Saintbury Hill. A 39x25 brute climbers will love.
Its a bargain too @ £8.00 entry...yes....thats £8.00!!!!!!
cheap as chips but you'll get what you need - signs, well fed, a time and a good laugh. Its all budgeted, worked out and in place. No need for me to take more than necessary. All I need are bums on seats.
Entries are open!
PS Congrats to Phil Whiteman on winning a local competition I ran to come up with the name. He gets free entry & grub as his prize.

less than 20 places left now
Due to the popularity of this event (I'm staggered!), I'm looking at another HQ (Inkberrow Village Hall) about 3 miles further along the route so I can get more cars parked. Looked ok today when I rode past. More off-road parking, less residents to upset, not a big enough change to upset any entrants and its on the route, so fingers-crossed the date is free.
If I can bag it, I'll up the rider limit to 200. If it fills up in the meantime, I'll just close and re-open entries when I have it confirmed.
Will keep you all posted.
..and thank you to everyone who has supported this event. I want to prove you don't have to pay mega-bucks for a good quality event and I hope it becomes a firm fixture in the Sportive Calendar...and who knows - if I get this one right, there could be more to come

Today was the date for the Mad March Hare reccy ride for those cyclists seeking to sus out the Mad March Hare route.
Many thanks to Paul for leading the run and for Mark who turned up with cakes and bottles of bubbly!
Great route, great company, great pace and overall enjoyable. It was good to meet up fellow sportive riders and put faces to names including the message board's Dave Lee.
The day was cold and chilly but the low humidity meant that the roads were completely ice free. We rode for some miles crossing the undulations of the northern half of the Vale of Evesham until reached 'that hill'. Saintbury Hill, previously used as the national hill climb, prove to be a nice challenge. It is tougher in the first half but it can be spun out to the summit. After a quick descent down Fish Hill and into the tourist honey spot of Broadway we headed off to the midway point at Elmley Castle. At Elmley, we were met by Mark Thomas waiving bubbly at us - not a usual sportive fuel top-up and not one to be encouraged! The return portion took us through the Cotswold stone villages on the escarpment of Bredon Hill before returning across the undulations back towards Bradley Green.
The Mad March Hare will provide a good entree to the next season. It is not too hilly apart from Saintbury and not too long. The course will be relatively fast for a sportive and will provide opportunities for chain gang cyclists along the wider carriageways.
Looking forward to 1st March.0 -
where is easiest to stay please for the sat evening??
travelling down from manchester, so ideally somewhere close to the start / finish.
thanks0 -
I have heard that the following is quite reasonable. It situated down a quiet lane. Probably about 20-25 minutes drive from the start.
