Extra tube protection

Evening all.
I've heard/read about cutting an inner tube in half and putting it inbetween the tyre and tube for extra protection. Just wondering if anybody did this and what their thoughts/experience with it are.
Cheers

Yes, but its a faff. Could just use a thicker innertube, or some sealant.0

Cheers supersonic. What inner tubes would you advise, DH ones?
Reason I ask is that I'm thinking of putting Continental Speed King Supersonics on my bike, seem like a really good tyre but fragile.
Anybody have any experience of them?

Well, they are an XC/marathon tyre! I think putting DH tubes in sort of defeats t he point of the tyre lol.
I'dd see how you get on with them with standard tubes.0 -
lol, yer fair point! I'll give them a try with my specialized tubes.

I just bought these: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/sli ... k-ec006834
Will fit them when I get punctures next, they seem very light so I can't see that being a problem in reality (although I know theoretically you don't want more weight on the outside of the wheel).
They seem quite tough, I'm sure it won't be a perfect solution but I bet they will be better than nothing.0 -
does anyone know where to get those mudguards that go underneath the frame to collect mud and to stop scratches. Look at doddys (mbuk mag) commencal meta 5.5 then you will know what i mean
thanks.0 -
Most cycle shops. Doddy uses a Crudcatcher ZX but there are many variations.
