Any thoughts about wall mounting hooks????

I've got 3 road bikes and was thinking about hanging them vertically on wall mounted hooks. Most seem to hang by the front wheel but some feedback I've seen says hanging by the front wheel is no good for carbon forks. Is this true? Is hanging by the back wheel a better option?

6 quid for a mount at Lidl. Padded bar for the top tube.

It makes no difference to the frame or fork - the forces involved are far less than the frame/fork is capable of taking either way (how much force do you think the fork has to take with 70kg on top doing an emergency stop, compared to 10kg hanging from it?) Do whatever is more convenient for you.

Which is utter rubbish. Neither my nor my wife's bikes have suffered. My LBS hangs all bikes in the workshop from the front wheel.

It's a great way of saving space. Go for it!

PS. I use Delta Leonado hooks - available from wiggle for around a tenner...
  • I hang all the bikes from hooks (from Evans, but Homebase do similar...) from the joists in the roof of the shed.
I hang them from the back wheel - I hope this doesn't start a backwheel /front wheel thing... :D
    Spring!
    Singlespeeds in town rule.
  • I recently gave life to an old handlebar by drilling two holes in it & turning it into a wall hook. It's absolutely brilliant! Essentially it becomes two hooks for the price of two screws + wall plugs.

Three of my rental bikes came with ITM 330 bars... either these are made of some really crappy aluminium alloy, or the walls are too thin where the thing is swaged out to 31.6mm diameter. All three have suffered the same fate - crushed to death by various stems. :(
