Cycling in India - Goa

Hi all
I am planning a trip to India this November, specifically cycling from Goa to Cochin.
Has anyone done any cycling out there? I am in the early stages of planning my trip and am wondering whether it's a good idea, whether to bring my own bike, if it's a good destination etc....
Any advice or alternate ideas are welcome!!
