Is it really hard to ride a horse like they do in cowboy flicks? Down rocky slopes and doing wheelies and tight turns and such? They make it look quite easy.

You'll need one of the "cowboy" saddles with a pommel at the front as you'll slide off the front of your best dressage saddle.

Oh, and the "golden" era of cowboy flicks was not noted for its gentle treatment of animals (or stuntmen) - it was quite common to have some fairly severe injuries (and even deaths) when filming. You can probably do some great moves if you know the horse is expendable.

I've been on a ranch holiday and played cowgirl for a week and yes, they really do ride like that all the time. It means you end up with killer inner thigh muscles. Well, you do, I didn't.
  • Hmm a ranch holiday eh? Reckon you can ride like a cowboy/girl after a week or two or did you just come back with a sore ars!?
