As my big Afan crash/helicopter trip was partly due to cramp in my hand after sorting out another effing pinchflat and my current tyres are about shot, I'm going to give tubeless a go. I've had a poke around but before I order can someone in the know just reassure me that I've got this right please?

My wheels are "Bontrager Race Disc Tubeless" so I take it all I need is a new valve stem like this, I will need some sealant but I won't need tape. Is that right? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/No_Tu ... 360027648/

I can basically go for any tyres I want, however if I go for standard tyres, I'll need sealant and a gas cartridge to pop them on to the rim, if I go for UST tyres then I should be able to get them on with a trackpump and I don't need sealant, unless I want the additional puncture resistance this gives me. For the sealant, this will do...http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/No_Tu ... 360027640/

From what I can gather not going for UST tyres is a false economy and general pain in the ass so I should really go for UST tyres.

So is there ANYTHING else I need apart from 2 UST tyres, 2 valves, a bottle of sealant and possibly some CO2 carts just in case? (And a spare tube to carry with me when riding)

Lastly, recommendations for tyres. '07 Trek Fuel EX7, currently running Bontrager Jones XR 2.25. I mainly ride at weekend trips such as Cannock, Afan or CYB, and bridleway riding near me which can get very muddy (to the point that they literally stop turning such is the crud build up!) Road riding is pretty irrelevant as I have a road bike for that!
I love them in dry conditions such as the open bits of Cannock or on rock at Coed y Brenin, I hate them on wet roots etc as they are nervous, and just hopeless in mud, no traction and won't clear. Any recommendations for something? Kenda Nevs perhaps?

Thanks in advance, TBH going to tubeless has to be the most confusing thing I've looked into with a lot of conflicting info and contrasting opinions.

in my experience, make sure you use proper ust tyres, normal tyres just dont cut the mustard, they dont inflate properly and they are not reliable, (they pop off the rim when ever they feel like, leaving you uinable to trust your own wheels) ust ones are a piece of p155 to fit.

if your wheels are tubeless ready, you shouldnt need a rim strip but you will need a valve, i looked at the link you showed for the stans valve and it says it is not to be used with tubeless rims, i dont know why

the tyre sealant you showed will do the job spot on.

Perfect, thanks for clearing that up for me, sounds like you've had experience of them! I think I might keep the Bonty theme going on the bike and go for Jones ACXs USTs, my missus has the tubed version and says they're fine.

ive never ridden them but i was looking at a set of bonty tyres for a previous upgrade. good thing about bonty (and spesh tyres for that matter) is that they are tubeless ready, this means they need to be run with milk to make them airtight but are much lighter than normal ust tyres (which have thick sidewalls to remain airtight) and you will only need as little as 50g of milk for them to work.

i am running shimano eskar s works tyres in a 2.3 size. they weigh 650g and are massive, ive only ridden them a little but i like em, they look abit like maxxis advantage but have a similar rolling profile to highrollers. pumped up a peice of pis5 and have remained sealed for 2 weeks, no problem.
