Welcome to the forum, but try a search. Been covered hundreds of times with just about every aspect you can think off.

Even Wiki gives some info on them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_pedal

  • I have just made the swap to SPD's and they are great. So much better for uphill work, and seem to help on the flat aswell, I bought some Shimano 520 pedals and 661 expert shoes from chain reaction and i'm very pleased with the products and service.

Just be aware these shoes are small fitting so go at least a size bigger than normal.

PS i have'nt fallen off clipped in yet but feel sure it will happen when i least expect it LOL

And of course the other time you come off is when it is wet and really muddy. Bike comes to a standstill in the nice icky deep mud with the back wheel spinning and .... over you go

Happened to me a few times in the Winter

Isnt the rule of the SPD that you will fall off infront of several people you dont know in a comedy fashion?

    Im sure Jesus said it.

In answer to your specific question, yes they'll help you, but only if you get on with them.

In answer to your general question, "any help would be good", use punctuation and the search tool.
