When did you last check that little nut on the inner tube valve ?
Is it removable without a pair of pliers?
Mine wasn't
On the way to work
In the dark
On the bright sideit wasn't raining
On the down side I ripped the valve off the tube trying to undo it
I finally got the valve out and relaced the tube but it put me in a foul mood for the next hour or so trying to make up time.
So do yourself a favour and iether remove the lock nut or make sure you can get the ****** thing off

Good call, I checked my pressure yesterday before I went out, and had to use the pliers on one to open it!!0

Never, I don't fit them0

Ditch 'em, they are not necessary.
I hate threaded (presta) valve barrels anyway - they ruin the grommet in your pump.0 -
Don't use them. I came from mountain biking last year. The Schraeder valves on my MTBs never needed anything to hold them in place, so why use anything on my road bike's Presta valves?0

As soon as the tyre is pumped up they should get taken off......0 -

You can push the pump on without one, but it makes it far easier........I use longish valves on v. low section wheels anyway.0 -
I ride tubulars and have never used them.
Seems that I read somewhere that they were actually dangerous in certain conditions
but I can't recall any more than that. My short term memory is completely gone(I think)
and long term memory is fading fast.
